Birkmar (N) get another great result on July 28th 2013 at SKK International Dog Show of Ransater where, presented by R. Hellman (I/USA) got the BEST IN SHOW over more than 2600 dogs! BIS and Breed Judge was Mrs A. Ganami (IL); Group Judge Mrs Anika Ulltveit Moe (SE)

Q: When did you first become interested in showing and breeding dogs?

The precise motivation for which I have decided to breed Am Staf was the consequence of the study of more then ten years and my attendance in the  late 80s in the USA. Attending the exhibition of AKC and in particular seeing some Am Stafs presented by John McCartney at that time, ignited something inside me,  something important and ambitious which brought me, after 10 years, to breed my first litter alone. Only after having evaluated my breeding program, guided by the mentors like my dear friend John. So I decided to take care of the modern American Staffordshire Terrier.

Q: What is the aim of the work with Am Staf breeding? Are you pleased so far with your work with this?

TEMPERAMENT!  TEMPERAMENT ALWAYS COMES FIRST – because the most beautiful dog - the world winner and the more prized one is worthless if its temperament is bad! In other words, I think that the most important thing  is to maintain gameness and as some of us know that this trait has nothing to do with conformation and everything to do with temperament! The backbone of gameness includes extreme confidence. It also includes a desire to please the human master. Our breed is like no other. It is the most versatile of them all. No other comes close. We have a challenge, it is to carry on and maintain in our Am Stafs the confidence, stability, reliability, and above all, reluctance to bite or threaten people without a damn „good reason” - MUST BE MAINTAINED. Frankly, after long time I am deeply satisfied by my work in this regard.

Q: What is the ideal size and the ideal type according to you?

The ideal size and  ideal type are both written in the Official A.K.C. Breed Standard which is the ”bible” for breeders to follow. The size was outlined to enable our breed to be picked up and carried by the handler and to maintain a degree of stamina and athleticism. This breed is the ultimate blend of strength, power, drive and athleticism. A gladiator blending the strength of the bull to the nimble quickness and tenacity of the terrier. It is an art to produce a correct blend of balance between these two values. My way is the "like begets like...”. It was one of the oldest forms of selective breeding that created most of the dog breeds. The method was essential, it consisted in establishing the kind of dog that the breeder had decidedto represent as his ideal type in few generations, mating it with others of similar type, eliminating  all that closely don't resemble its parents. This technique is still one of the most important basic principles of the selection.

On second day in Lecce at the Bari IDS the final sees the same dog with a little change! On 3rd place as on saturday the Beagle Owned and Bred by R. Baldi and Handled by G. Vadi CH Captain Harlock. The Maltese (breed) bred by F. Prosperi and Owner-Handled by S. Paolantoni CH BIS Cinesittà Saha Baron Colen has been beaten by the Maltese (handler) Ivan Calleja with the Fow Wire H BIS Travella Special Feature owned by Johann Schembri & Ivan Callej, Bred by William Brown-Cole. Judge was Carla Molinari from Spain.

Runner-up went to the Eukanuba finalist coming from Malta the Fox Wire CH BIS Travella Special Feature owned by Johann Schembri & Ivan Callej, Bred by William Brown-Cole and Handled by Ivan Calleja. Mr. Asnaghi finally decide his 3rd place for the Beagle Owned and Bred by R. Baldi and Handled by G. Vadi CH Captain Harlock

 

From the first to the third place on Junior BIS we seen the Azawakh, the Great Dane and a Labrador

Italy > Triplet for Starlight!

 

JCH Starlight Del Biagio

 

Turin was a triple show for some nordic breeds having 2 IDS and one club specialty. JCH Starlight Express Del Biagio has been the undiscussed winner among all Alaskan Malamutes winning at the first IDS the Best Of Breed & Group 2nd under Italian Judge Mr. P. Buratti (President of the Italian Nordic Breed Ass.). At the Specialty Show on saturday morning Starlight was again BEST OF BREED under french Judge Mr. J. Blangino and BIS RESERVE under the Japanese one Mr. Takahashi. Finally on sunday at the IDS of Turin Starlight has been awarded for the 3rd time in a row Best Of Breed under Mrs. V. Rodaro (I), then Group 1st under G. Vandoni (I) and in the end Mr. Takahashi gave him another recognition placing him 2nd on Best in Show!

Ratton BEST OF OPPOSITE at the Bouledogue Specialty in Turin with CAC/CACIB. Now Cami the Boule got all the requirements for the INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION title! Held on July 14th, National Dogshow of Cingoli seen the Samoyed Swami Di Casa Kaly bred by G. Mazzucato and owned-handled by M. Latini winning Group 1st and BIS Runner-Up from the classes under Judge Mrs E. Afagonova from Russia. BIS 1st was a Golden Retrivier, 3rd the Danese.

Boston specialty in Turin

At the last IDS in Turin there has been lot of specialties, among them the one authorized by the Club Cani Compagnia (Italian Toybreeds Ass.) for the Boston Terriers.

BEST OF OPPOSITE with CACIB went to the open class winner Bella Damigella Del Primo Cavaliere owner-handled by A. Bullari just over the champion, Top Boston 2012, CH Daisy Del Primo Cavaliere own-bred by L. Carta.
BEST OF BREED went to the USA-imported champion dog CH Sunwood Regal And Debonair Bred by J. Ritchey, owned by L. Carta (Del Primo Cavaliere kennel) and handled by R. Hellman.

On September 7th & 8th at Amola di Licciana Nardi will be held for the first time in Italy a seminar dedicated to the Canaan Dogs and the Pariah Dogs; speakers will be Mrs. Zirri I. breeder since 1990 (on the photo judging sweepstakes at an USA's National Specialty) and Mrs. Rossi V. breeder, conditioner and journalist. At the CIRN (Italian Club for Nordic Breeds) Specialty Show in Turin on July 6th 2013, held just before the CACIB show, the Siberian CRY OUT THE LONG RUN was CAC and BEST OF OPPOSTE under Judge Mr. Jacques Dupas from France. Run is bred by last year's top SH breeders in Italy CRY OUT Kennel by D. Capanni and C. Rimini, owned by Mr. K. Introzzi and handled by G. Danesi

A good way of success for WCP Dragonjoy Sonny Corleone bred & owner-handled by Chiara Ceredi of the world famous Dragonjoy kennel. At Orvieto IDS on June 23rd Sonny was Group 2nd under Mr Anthony Kelly from Ireland (BOB under Leif Helman Wilberg from Norway).

At San Marino on July 6th was Group 3rd under Mr Tino Pehar from Croatia (BOB under Roberto Schill from Romania)

Old and new winners in Turin for the double-date

On Saturday 7th Mr Jean Jacques Dupas from French gave the title of BEST IN SHOW WINNER at the 1st International Dogshow of Vercelli to the Black Russian Terrier Free Phoenix Bohemica De Koslava Bred by Claerr and Owned by Bem J.. As the Judge, the BRT winner of the working Group both saturday and sunday comes from French.

Turin IDS Best In Show

 On second at the Turin IDS day the Maltese bred by F. Prosperi and Owner-Handled by S. Paolantoni won again the Toy Group reaching after the BEST IN SHOW winner title under Mr. Tadashi Takahashi from Japan. Ch. Cinecittà Sasha Baron is going through a great year with several BIS placements and keeping hard his first place as Italian Top Dog in the Cajelli System.

Mr. Takahashi also been invited to judge at the CIRN (Italian Club for Nordic Breeds) show. BEST IN SPECIALTY went to the japanese akita bred by Zeller P. and Owner-Handled by Convertini M. G'Kouhei Go Of Kamino Ken.

Held in Sezcin the polish Terrier National just ended with a spectacular Best in Show's lineup. BIS went to Meddie the skye terrier CH Skyewalker´s Made In Italy, runner-up the Airedale. Skye's name is a funny connection thinking that the final has been judged by Mr. Francesco Cochetti from Italy!

 

 

 That's Amore in Maui

 

On June 29th another Italian made the top in a BIS showring, this time as exhibitor: on the picture the  owner-handler Marco Tomei winning BEST IN SHOW at the Santander NDS in Spain. Maui the Chihuahua took this amazing results from the junior class winning also the JUNIOR BIS!
